Workshop on the Impacts of Poverty Maps:
Past Experiences and New Applications, Brussels Workshop, May 21st, 2003

Application Impacts How the impacts can be enhanced
Papers by the Chronic Poverty Research Center (CPRC) and the Conflict Prevention Network (CPN) indicate that poverty maps, among other analytical tools, would be useful to help evaluate complex linkages between conflict and poverty (25, 26). Poverty and vulnerability analyses currently marginalize the role of war and violence. There is a need for additional research on evaluating the linkages between poverty and conflict.
Central Balkans:Pre- and post-conflict living conditions have been mapped in the Central Balkans (27). This raised awareness on pre and post conflict conditions in the central Balkans. Data need periodically updating to reflect significant socio economic and biophysical changes that result due to conflict (e.g., migration changes).
