Workshop on the Impacts of Poverty Maps:
Past Experiences and New Applications, Brussels Workshop, May 21st, 2003

Application Impacts How the impacts can be enhanced
IFPRI is evaluating economic vulnerability and poverty in Malawi (18). This research will contribute to a better understanding of the spatial factors that contribute to high poverty levels and household economic vulnerability – information that may help guide key policy, investment, and strategy decisions in Malawi.
ILRI and FAO/FIVIMS are mapping livelihoods assets in Kenya – information usually not captured in poverty maps (19). Results will identify areas with high to low assets/services - information envisioned to improve targeting of poverty alleviation policies and interventions in Kenya.
